CEITEC was established as a multidisciplinary scientific centre in the area of life sciences, material sciences and advanced technologies in 2010. At the BUT, CEITEC provides strong expertise in the area of automation, cybernetics, robotics and instrumentation. CEITEC provides a unique connection of R&D teams in Material Science (materials, nano and micro technologies, embedded systems, communication and control technologies) and Life Science and state-of-the-art research infrastructure available for the project solution. The Research group Cybernetics in Material Science will participate in the project. The group is aimed at development of sensors, embedded systems, control algorithms and their applications in industry.

Thanks to EU Structural Funds, CEITEC constructed 14,000 m2 of new research facilities and purchased state-of-the-art equipment valued about 100M Euro. The RG mission is to develop advanced control, sensor and communication technologies with high application potential in industry and to support other research teams in laboratory experiments automation, electrical and non-electrical quantities measurement, data acquisition, signal processing and laboratory robotics.

The university (BUT) consists of 8 faculties covering a broad range of technical science and it is one of major research institutions in the Czech Republic with more than 2,000 Ph.D. students and 1,000 academics staff.
