Valerie Wolf Gang (b. 1991) studied media arts and practices and contemporary art practices at the University of Nova Gorica in Slovenia. She is currently working on her PhD at the Slovenian Academy of Science and Arts. In addition to her artistic practice, she leads workshops and teaches at various universities.
Valerie Wolf Gang frequently works in time-based and interactive media. She sees technology and new technical developments as a means to increase her artistic scope and creativity. She of course also examines technological developments critically, but beyond this she is also on the lookout for solutions or improvements, for instance for approaches to a more positive relationship between people and machines. In her work FLUID, for instance, she asks: Can machines help us live healthier lives?
During her residency at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Saarbrücken, Valerie Wolf Gang will continue her quest in dialogue with the researchers there: Can AI carry out an independent form of creativity? How can we use or develop technology like AI outside of market interests to express ourselves creatively or improve our social coexistence?
